About Get Up Offa That Thing:
The goal of Get Up Offa That Thing is to present music in a way that moves you to get up, listen to new songs, go to concerts, and support the artists by buying their work. Though the spotlight is typically on new music not covered by mainstream media outlets, I will occasionally write about old or mainstream artists, as well as the music industry as a whole. (I am also a crafter, so silly posts about music-related projects may also pop up.) I try to include a wide range of music, but there is a definite skew: indie pop, electronic, dance, mid- to up-tempo world music, soul/soulful, and blues. I will, however, listen to anything, so if you would like me to preview and potentially write about your band, please contact me via email (getupoffa@gmail.com).

About Me:
My name is Miles, and I am a music lover and writer living in New York. I grew up with a lot of music buzzing in my head, and I can pace out my life with albums. I’ve spent the last few years living in Atlanta; Athens, Georgia (where I was the operations director for the student-run radio station WUOG for a while); and New York, and my music taste and writing style reflect these places and the people I met there. To get a brief feel for who I am: listen to Annie’s “Chewing Gum”; read Al Burian’s Burn Collector; watch Strangers with Candy. Now spin around really quickly and eat a bag of candy. Feeling sickly sweet? wry and dark? offensive? slightly nauseated and dizzy? There. That is me.
