I can’t wait for August. Specifically, I can’t wait for Stereolab’s new album to come out. Here is the first single, which I already love just for the backbeat.

In a recent interview (the link escapes me), lead-singer Laeticia Sadier mentions a real lack of French fans for Stereolab, and I wonder if these lyrics, fully developed in French, is part of an effort to pull a Continental audience. We shall see. You can visit the Stereolab site here.

Yes yes yes! I’ve been freaking out about this since “Three Women” appeared on their myspace page a couple months ago. Catchiest Stereolab yet!
Jilly, did you ever listen to her side project, Monade? Do you know if it is good? I’m curious.

I mean, basically it sounds like the songs from Stereolab’s catalog that Laetitia primarily wrote. I’ve always suspected that Monade is an outlet for those of her songs that didn’t make the cut for Stereolab albums, or just didn’t quite fit the album they were written for.
The Albums:
“Monstre Cosmic” leans more toward the sound of Air, while “A Few More Steps” leans more toward Stereolab’s sound. Both albums are fantastic. But if I could only get one, I’d go with “A Few More Steps.”
